Our speaker for May is Sue Bagge, a
respected and well known teacher and
designer of Ikebana. She will tell us a little bit
of how Ikebana started and show us some
arrangements.

Sue Bagge began to study the Sogetsu
School of Ikebana in the 1980s. Then came
the opportunity to travel to Ibaraki, Japan, the
Sister City to Minneapolis and to have the
interchange of Ikebana events here, too.

Sogetsu School is one of three main schools
of Ikebana and is very contemporary. Being a
teacher of Sogetsu, she enjoys sharing its
strengths and has chaired a number of
exhibitions like the Como Fall Ikebana Mum
Shows in November 2006 and 2007 and
participating in all 39 years of Art in Bloom!
Ikebana involves nature and the seasons so

Sue will showcase spring after our long winter
and offer ideas for your rose arrangements.
In addition to her expertise in Ikebana, Sue
also teaches floral design at the Kohler and
Dramm design institute.
