In a spirit of this election year, this month's rose is a
classic hybrid tea, named for one of our great presidents.
It was introduced in 1964 and is a cross of Chrysler Imperial
x Charles Mallerin. The blooms begin as urn-shaped buds and
open to dark red flowers with 35 huge petals. The growth is
upright and vigorous with dark green foliage. The plant has
a susceptibility to blackspot. Being a hybrid tea rose it
of course needs winter protection in Zone 4 but the beautiful
blooms make it worth the work. Mister Lincoln is also available
as a climber and in tree form. What is your experience with
Mister Lincoln? Rate it in the poll below.
