H.C. Anderson
Another set of circumstances, this time in the form of computer
failure, gives H.C. Andersen the chance to be our
rose of the month for both September and October. This dark
red floribunda, shown in the fabulous garden of Barb Webber
during this year's ARS National Convention is a standout.
Also known as Hans Chrisian Andersen and other names, it was
introduced in 1986 and the ARS rates it 8.0. Its dark red
clusters bloom in flushes through the summer on strong canes.
The bush is medium-sized with medium green, disease resistant
foliage. Although there are reports of hardiness throughout
Zone 4, it will thrive with some winter protection. What is
