Rose of the Month ~ July 2005

Charles Albanel

Charles Albanel is a hybrid rugosa rose, hybridized by Dr. Felicitas Svedja in Canada as part of the Explorer series and introduced in 1982. It has a low, spreading growth habit and makes a good groundcover. It has been widely planted in environmental landscaping. The blooms are semi-double and medium red with a strong fragrance. It's wrinkled, grassy green foliage makes an attractive shrub even when not in bloom. The plant is extremely hardy and disease resistant. What is your experience with Charles Albanel?
