Rose of the Month ~ July 2004

Earthquake

It is July after all, and what would July be without some excitement? This little miniature rose shakes up the garden with it's brilliant red and yellow striped blooms and bright green foliage. Named when an earthquake rattled the town near the Sequoia Nursery where it was being hybridized, Earthquake was introduced in 1990. It is a plant that loves the heat but holds it's colors better in some shade. It requires winter protection but lovers of striped roses say it's all worth it. It is also available as a climber. What is your experience with Earthquake? Rate it in the poll below.
