Rose of the Month ~ April 2004

Winnipeg Parks

As a"Parkland" rose, Winnipeg Parks proves itself to be a hardy shrub with beautiful blooms. It was introduced in 1990 and the ARS has given it a 7.7 rating. Its pointed buds open to cupped, deep pink-red semidouble blooms of medium size. The plant is medium sized with medium green foliage that has a reddish tinge when young. Although the blooms don't last long, they repeat well through summer and autumn. My experience has been that it is disease resistant and will survive with relatively little winter care.
