Hot Tamale
Just it's name alone makes Hot Tamale a winner, especially
this time of year. It doesn't hurt that it is also one of
the top rated Miniatures with an ARS rating of 8.2, ranked
5th in Exhibition ratings by Roses In Review and a 1994 ARS
Award of Excellence winner. Hot Tamale is a yellow blend mini
that ages to a bright yellow pink, giving off an electric
glow. It was introduced in 1993 by Zary and moved right on
to the show tables. The foliage is dark green, the plant is
compact but tall, and the blooms are borne mostly singly but
may develop clusters in cooler climates. It is disease-resistant
and repeats bloom often. As with most minis, it is hardy only
to Zone 5 so it does require some winter protection here in
Zone 4 but a vase of these beauties on the table, at home
or at the rose show, makes it all worthwhile. Check out the
