Rose of the Month ~ January 2005

Magic Lantern

This month we've chosen a beautiful Grandiflora by the name of Magic Lantern. You might also know it as Remy Martin. It was introduced in 1995 as a sport of Gold Medal. The ARS gives it a 7.8 rating and classifies it as an orange blend but it has been described as apricot, orange pink and orange yellow. Must be magic indeed! The large double blooms repeat after a spring later in the season. The plant grows upright to around 5 feet tall. Hardy only to Zone 6 it does need winter protection but it has proven to be disease resistant with a little help from a regular spray program. What is your experience with Magic Lantern? Rate it in the poll below.
